The median income is like $80k. I would commit suicide trying to raise 2 kids with that little money. Now stop and think and realize that over half the country has even less than that to work with.

National median incomes are pretty useless to this discussion. What it takes to raise a family in rural Arkansas is much different than suburban Austin Texas.
