I have 2 college friends with no children. One is a gay man and the woman friend never married. They both are professionals, one a CPA and the other an economist for the Federal Reserve. I’m jealous. They both retired at 62 and travel constantly. Like big trips. You don’t need kids to take care of you because without kids, you can pay someone to do it.

I have kids. I usually will not hate on someone for not wanting them for any reason. Parenting is tough and not for everyone. The worst are the parents who you know just wanted that box checked and are not active in their lives.

Honestly that doesn't sound enviable at all. They only have themselves to share that with and will have no legacy.
I know plenty of people at retirement age that do exactly that and have kids.

Hopefully enough people have children that these people to take care of everyone are around. Given birth rates, it seems unlikely.
