Teachers, nurses, mothers, the nobility of whoring yourself online, the bravery of abortion as birth control.
Hard to not recognize who it is we're trying to emotionally appease on a constant basis.

All those women from the article when they hit the wall.

It's sad if your children are your parachute.

How do you know that they are if you don’t have them?
Every time my infant nephew screams and cries at 2 am when I’m staying at my parents’ place. Every time my sister has to leave a restaurant with her infant. Every time she burps him and I hear it. Good on everyone who likes that stuff. Good on everyone who wants to do the parent teacher meetings / basketball practice / arguing with a teenager / giving them the birds and the bees talk… you have to reaaaaalllyyyyyy really want a kid to have one. Or be dumb enough to make a mistake.

I'm not, its your loss.
We literally have one mission on this earth, and y'all have failed.

Non sociopaths are able to bond with people, particularly their own children which makes the experience 1000x different than being around your relatives kid.

The natural state of humans is to have kids. It is quite literally what your body is made for. So it's really the inverse.

Its pretty much our only real objective purpose on earth. Its our strongest drive.

My first spent almost 1 year in daycare. My wife would drop him off and I’d pick him up. We both worked full time professional jobs. He’d be asleep when we left him and asleep when I picked him up. During that winter it was dark each time (and if you work 8 hours they are there more like 10-12 hours a day as 8 hour days are really 9 + commute time.) we just couldn’t keep doing it, it felt wrong. When the second one was born it really wouldn’t have made sense. We adapted. Refinanced house, paid down debt, I got new skills and a promotion. Wife found part time work to replace some of her income. Parents and aunts helped when they could.
exactly... you do what you gotta do. kids don't need material things, they need a parent, at home full time till at least 3 or 4. it's totally unnatural, and in my opinion, immoral. you're depriving a child of the most fundamental years of their life for developing self-confidence and emotional security. You can't establish that on the weekend and a few hrs after school.
what also bears mentioning is, you really have no idea what these people are saying to your kid, how they are treating them, etc. i would bet nobody on here would be willing to give their day care worker the keys to their car to borrow for the day, but they're more than willing to hand over their kid. doesn't make logical sense.

I see more people with kids who shouldn’t have been parents than i see people without kids by choice. If parenting is not something you want to do…..don’t.

It’s unfortunate TD’s search function is so awful.
It’s always been a pretty common OT theme that people don’t really want children.
Posters used to label couples as selfish because they only had a single child which resulted in social awkwardness.
Today, nobody GAF about being called selfish. The only thing that surprises me is that people embrace being called a dink.

Our nursery is great, I have no doubt over how he is being treated. We get a couple of updates a day inclusive of pictures of what he's eaten, if he's slept and if so how long for, of their activities etc. and you can pick them up whenever you like or pop in to see how things are. It's very open book and the bond he has with his key worker(s) is clear to see everytimr we drop him off.
The workers are all trained and people i trust to help raise him.
The downside is that admin wise they have been taken over by a large firm and prices have rise. 50% in 12 months. The cost is now 50% higher than my mortgage and we will have to move him following the latest price rise. We are genuinely devastated but not every childcare provider is plonking your kids infront of a tv 8 hours a day and feeding them Cheetos for lunch.

Ah.
Don't rely on your children to take care of you when you're old.

Most women worth marrying / ones that are most desirable will want children. Good luck finding one that doesn’t want kids…. But to each his own.

That's not really it either. His was a pretty standard retort to the "if you haven't lived the experience, you can't observe or comment on it" and it has nothing to do with parachutes or being cared for when you're old. It's a logical fallacy that consistently falls apart with almost any rebuttal. And, most importantly to this topic, it works for any side of any debate in the context of "lived experience" and no use of the argument is more or less valid than any other.
On a related note, if you put a 40 year old parent and a 40 year old childless person at a table, only one of them has lived both with and without kids. And exactly none of them have grown old without kids. For whatever that is worth to the "lived experience" prerequisite.
