What I don’t believe is that Israeli officials were unaware of the attack in advance.

That’s a conclusion (I’m not saying it’s certainly correct, just that it’s a conclusion) that logic alone can lead me to.

I don’t know who killed who, I don’t doubt that Palestinians would be happy to kill civilians. But I know it doesn’t make sense to me that they were able to pull off such a successful attack of that type, meaning a bunch of dudes with rifles just running amok for a long time against helpless and undefended Israelis.
