Weed Identification Question and How to Remedy

H&G experts, any idea what this weed is growing up through my St. Augustine grass is? And if so, is there something that I can apply to kill it. Furthermore, my backyard, which used to have grass is now barren, given the heat related/rain issues last summer in BR. Any advice on what to do to bring it back? Sand, plugs, etc.? Thanks.

If you are talking about the tall sprigs, that looks like ryegrass…it will die when the weather gets hot.

Even the best weed id people can't id that. You need to actually take a picture of the plant.

It's difficult to tell with the first picture.
The second picture my guess is a common Bermuda or Torpedo

Perennial rye. Hit it with msm.
