This is akin to offering amnesty to illegals, without fixing the border to prevent new illegals from entering.
If you have a kid going to college, are you just stupid if you advise against them taking out an offered loan that is not really needed at this point?

Unneeded loans should not be taken out. Despite all the hoopla, no loans have been forgiven for just regular people. It's mostly been where fraud was concerned with some of these for-profit schools, or for public service and government workers, and a few other niche situations.
