The leadership purposely ignores the fact that at anytime we can have another flood like the Great Historic Flood of August 2016.
Broome fricked up some federal requirements related to drainage spurring from that. I’m surprised the entire area isn’t getting completely fricked by the Feds as a result.

We have too many fancy parks and too many palatial libraries where few people actually checkout a book.
these are dedicated taxes - and are used more than you are giving credit for
And that is my point, we are being taxed way too much for too much stuff that we really don't need.
And you never see an old DPW truck , they are all new F-150s ,all clean as a whistle.

Any time the NAACP grifters are upset, it’s a win.

parks and libraries are necessary-
No they aren’t

No they aren’t
Not everyone can afford to buy books
With AR in a lot of schools, school libraries do not have enough books to meet the need, public libraries fill that gap amongst many more things
And everyone complains about kids not playing outside - if you live in a ghetto apartment- playgrounds are nice - my kids meet their friends at the park all the time to play, its not necessary but it’s nice
Plus those taxes cannot be reallocated without a vote - and guess what - take the money from the libraries and parks - there’s still going to be trash on the road and potholes in the streets

We just voted a few years back to move a bunch of library money to flood programs. Sounds like Baton Rouge should do the same

She learned it had to be voted upon.
BR has federal money for a flood program that hasn’t been implemented- that fact won’t change with library or park money.

Anyone with "wealth" in St. George doesn't give a shite about the public schools.
I don't know what quantifies the term "wealth" and I don't have any children in public schools (or any schools).
I am very concerned with public schools because most of my future neighbors at the city, parish, and state levels will be products of the public school systems.
The quality of my life now and in retirement will be directly and indirectly dependent upon the services provided by the current and future students of the public school systems.
Does anyone think the future electricians, plumbers, carpenters, HVAC technicians, auto mechanics, and any other trade professionals will only come from private or parochial schools?
