What is not talked about enough is that our 3 point specialist is not good at hunting 3's. Trey took 5 3's today he was to worried about trying to put Chet on a poster.
The issue with Trey is he's just a spot up shooter. He's very average as a movement shooter. Take coming off screens for example, he's in the 56th percentile in the league scoring 1.06 points per possession. Hawk for example is in the 87th percentile scoring 1.26 points per possession. When you turn that into spot up Trey is in the 86th percentile, scoring 1.18 points per possession. Trey really needs to work at becoming more than just a spot up shooter, he needs to develop as a movement shooter some more.
Interestingly enough, CJ is even worse. CJ was in the 19th percentile off of screens this year. He was in the 98th percentile as a spot up shooter. To see if this year was a fluke I looked up CJ's stats from last year, and he was in the 30th percentile off screens. He too, like Trey, is a great spot up shooter, but not a great movement shooter.

Trey is perfect for what we need with Zion.
Hawk is the guy you need to draw the extra defender away. He is by far our best movement 3 guy on the team.

Jose got played off the floor because he was too short for the matchup
OKC kept screening she Pels were switching even off ball. I think Jose ended up on Chet once.

This is when a good coach adjusts and says maybe we shouldn’t switch in this situation. Oh wait I forgot we have Willie Green. Im surprised some of our players dont call this BS out and like wtf are we doing? I have this gut feeling Herb hates doing this switching shite.

It wouldn't have mattered. If you looked at how Green neutered Hawk since taking him out of the rotations, his movement game is mostly gone. He's just out there sitting in one spot and relocating in a very small area now. The only difference between Trey and Hawkins/Ryan is that they're willing to launch shots with a hand in their face and will do it repeatedly.
The fault is all Willie. He refused to develop and incorporate these skillsets into the offense and would only allow Zion, BI, and CJ to create offense the entire year. Now we have a bunch of guys struggling to step up and carry the stars because we were too over reliant on those guys to create for everyone else and their roles are pretty much set in stone because of it. Now OKC neutralized CJ and BI forcing our role players to do a lot more than they were designed to do throughout the year and they struggle.

Yup. Meanwhile do you know what the okc coach philosophy is for his players? He wants everyone on the floor, including the center, to be able to dribble, pass and shoot. He calls it the 5 out philosophy. This is where the NBA is headed and we aren’t training our young guys to do this or drafting this way. For instance guys like JV cant dribble, Larry cant shoot, Dyson cant shoot, Hawkins and Trey cant creat or dribble. It was why we were completely exposed.
