Do you still have the power to put pressure on the front office when you are 40 years old and can't get out of the first round?
They would be foolish to trade a pick 6 years away to try to win a championship with a 40 year old who isn't getting any better. The Lakers got 70+ games out of LeBron and AD this season and still had to play in the play-in, only to get crushed in the first round. Trading away all of your depth and future first round picks to hope that Trae is the answer would be foolish.

So yes, I think he has a lot of power provided he truly would opt out if he didn't get what he wanted.
