So the only "actual discussion" that can be had is a scenario that fits your exact situation?
Maybe if I responded to you, you'd have a point. But you responded to me.
Do you disagree with my general point - that 20 something year olds today expect more luxuries (which cost money) than their parents had at the same age?
Edit: Just for fun I looked into your scenario. National home size has increased from 1600 Sq ft (in the 80s) to 2400 in 2018.
That's a 50% increase.

Went to YouTube, typed in "Parents Reading Pornographic Books From School Library" and posted the first two pages of links I came to.
So you went to social media and specifically searched for “parents reading porn to the kids.”

another bitchy reply from the bitchiest mean girl poster.
Brother, do you actually believe I search for this shite? You may seek out gay porn in obscure places but I can promise you that’s not normal. The first terms on my YouTube search history are Bluey, Magic Fingers and Fr. Mike Schmitz. But I actually have young kids and a life outside of being a chronically online a-hole.

It's half that. Louisiana average is like 550 a month.

You’re so out of touch and I bet you don’t even have children. Probably got married at 50.

Ascension Parish. From my home, I can cross Bayou Manchac (be in Baton Rouge) in 8-10 minutes. Daycare is roughly the same distance.
Your own link puts the average cost at 7500 a year (625ish a month) - closer to my 550 number than your over 1k number. So that's a self own.

No, instead you search for obscure unicorn events to prove America is full of super white supremacists.
See how that works?

A rural parish. I live in a city.

But while state averages are relatively low in Louisiana, the cost of child care also can vary widely among parishes. In New Orleans, for example, day care centers can cost parents up to $250 a week or more, coming to more than $13,000 a year.

Suburbs are now cheap podunk areas, got it. Gonna remember that when you bitch about how minorities can't escape the inner cities because it's too expensive.

And a Ferrari can cost 250,000 dollars. That doesn't mean there aren't cheaper cars. What's the average cost for daycare in New Orleans?

Yes because parents definitely want to skimp on infant care. You obviously don’t have children.
From my calculations, the avg cost is around $1,000 a month but I haven’t visited every single provider.

I have family in Ascension parish with a kid in daycare. They pay $130/week.
My husband is from Ascension.

From your calculations? Why were you even considering anything but the most expensive childcare locations? You don't want to skimp on childcare, do you?
Posted on 4/26/24 at 8:16 am to Azkiger
We could not afford the most expensive childcare. Our kids did not attend St. Martin or Country Day daycare for $26,000/year. We paid probably the average rate for daycare, which is around $1,000/month.

I always enjoy seeing this idiotic retort.
No, I didn't have kids I couldn't afford when I was younger. That doesn't preclude me from doing fricking math.

You are correct.
It starts with printing funny money and the policies on borders, trade and war that go to prop up the funny money Federal Reserve scheme.
In 1971 the Federal Reserve was completely decoupled from the gold standard. What happened next was the destruction of the middle class. At least gold to some extent held money printing in check prior to 1971.

Ok? What does using a calculator have to do with assuming every parent wants to send their infants to the absolute cheapest daycare you can find?
I hope your feel super smart. Calling people names does that for insecure people.

Who said "absolute cheapest daycare?"
Regardless, what does assuming someone doesn't have kids have to do with prioritizing a budget?
