How did Pisshead Paul end up with so much clout? He’s not particularly bright. He looks like he has AIDS. He never crafted anything of value during his stint as Speaker.

This is a question that has baffled me for some time as well.
Hell, freaking John Boener did as much as Speaker as Ryan did (and was arguably a more successful overall politician) and nobody is looking to him for any insight into anything.

He acted like he would reluctantly take the job if it was pushed on him. Then once in power he showed his true RINO stripes.
