It is a simple matter of pride, of which, Louisiana is desperately lacking.
As an example, the out of bounds on the golf course that I play and which I spend a lot of time in looking for my golf ball is full of trash. But, I had the pleasure to play a course in Florida a few weeks back and could not find one piece of litter.
Other prime examples are the curbs at stop lights and the ditches along most highways.
But, littering is not genetic. It is learned. When a kid sees a parent littering, it is not surprising that the kid will emulate his role model and do the same.
