because they posted a (deleted) video of their hitting coach sitting in the pilot's seat mid flight

Whats the problem? In the 80s when I was like 8 they let me see the cockpit during a flight. Gave me a little pilot wing clip too.

United Airlines now has 2 new pilot openings! Hopefully some boys at Spirit get the gig.

ALPA should be able to get their jobs back after some intense training.

I don't even think the union can help them here.

Back a number of years ago a Russian airline pilot let his kid sit in the captains seat and pretend to fly the plane. The kid somehow managed to disengage the autopilot and put the plane in an unrecoverable dive, killing everybody on board.

An ASAP stating “I didn’t know on charter flights we couldn’t do this and since one qualified crewmember was in the seat, we didn’t think we violated any FARs/SOPs.”
Just based on the video, I think the FO will definitely keep his job since he never left his duty position. CA is probably 75% keeping his job, imo.

At least they filed their NASA reports
I always figured any kind of 12-5 aircraft was off limits to pax under 121/135 operations.

I would agree but unless they have a history of violating cockpit procedures, I think they can keep their jobs. Only proof of “intentional noncompliance” would keep this from being accepted in the ASAP.

Seeing the cockpit =\= sitting in the pilots seat midflight.

Curious how much the FAA is allowed to get involved since it occurred when they were in a foreign country?

Plane originated from America, by an American company, with American pilots and passengers on board. I imagine they are allowed as much as they want to get involved.

“And I would have landed it but my dad wanted us to go back to our seats.”

Ralph T is such a simp. Yeah, the Colorado Rockies hitting coach was gonna fly the plane into the WTC.

Uh... letting him sit in the seat is intentional non-compliance.

See previous post….. crew possibly thought charters were under separate rules than scheduled service flights. Completely plausible.

Great question… depends on what airspace this happened.
The CAA could penalize United. If the CAA/Canadian law enforcement wanted to arrest the crew, they could. I don’t think the FAA has any recourse against either of it didn’t happen in FAA airspace.
I could be totally wrong but in Asia, specifically China, the airline accrues violation points which determine the amount of “slots” airline gets in mainland.
I have never heard of the FAA holding crews accountable for actions in foreign countries.
