So let me try to understand this like a 5 year old. They are saying the last time this supposedly happened was 1.6 billion years ago. How in the hell do they know this? Humans have only been on Earth 0.0125% of that 1.6 billion years, and able to detect microscopic organisms far less than that.

The planet changed massively once plants evolved. The temperature, the chemical composition of the atmosphere and rocks, etc. The oldest plant fossil is about a billion years old I believe, so the 1.6 billion years is probably a convergence of estimates based on that and the other data.

The problem is journalists are tards nowadays and headlines are for clickbait. The actual scientists don't write the headlines or the news articles. So not telling if any of this is misleading etc.

Trust your initial inclination and gut. They don't know. Can't know. It's impossible. Along with absurd claims and ridiculous timelines.

Science is using its previous incantation as a "respected authority" by taking its usual stab at the "Power of Suggestion". The only way un-provable / unproven "Science news" like this (theory / wish-casting) can be believed at face value is through Mental Alchemy.

Mental Alchemy requires oft-repeated claims via steady indoctrination and mind control of "authoritahs". With some, this technique hardens into Official Dogma. All authoritahs advance the impossible-to-prove suppositions via REPETITION -- working exactly like all Spells.
