LA Legislature doubles down on restricting public records access

Louisiana Senate Bill Would Further Restrict Public Records Access
SB482
First we had the LA House passing HB 461 which will allow local government to declare any records confidential if they determine their public release “would have a detrimental effect” on an active business negotiation. It would also allow the company or person negotiating with the government to request confidentiality. The secrecy would extend to “records of expenses of the local government pertaining to the negotiation.” Basically this bill will allow local governments to restrict public records access for anything they determine related to "economic development" which could be stretched to cover almost anything.
Now we have SB482 which will restrict public records access for the governor's schedule (not that big of a deal, imo). But the main part is this.

Surely all this will be challenged in the courts, correct?
I need a list of everyone who voted yes for both bills. Their names need to be plastered everywhere.

This has nothing to do with to do with records. It's an abortion bill that allows for abortions where it's deemed the pregnancy is nonviable.

Not happy with Freiberg on this one. She usually votes in line with what I believe.
About to give this bitch hell on Twitter.

Also interesting to note that every single Democrat voted yes except for 3 who were absent.

Read my post above. OP listed the wrong bill.

You listed HB 461 from the 2023 session. The OP is correct.

That's HB461 from 2023. The public records one is HB461 this year. The abortion one still comes up on google unless you put 2024 in the search.

As for SB 482, I generally like Sen Cloud. Disappointed to see her carrying this bill.

Thank God for small government conservatives. Now that they're running the state, we're going to finally get everything sorted out.

Bill is being presented right now in the senate committee, and the author is getting slaughtered by questions and cannot give a straight answer

Went to go tweet Mandie Landry and saw that she’s advocating against SB482 that restricts public records access to the Governor yet she voted yes for HB461 that restricts public access records to local & state governments.
Make it make sense.
