It was not on this video. This video started after he said what he said about politics/Biden as far as I can tell.

These “artists” need to stay in their lane. People go to shows to escape their daily grind for a little while, not to hear someone else’s views on politics

Actually sounded a lot like Biden.

And wearing old man Dickies on the stage.

Fckg shadow of his former self. Of course he's always been a progstain.

Nothing.

Last month, video went viral when he was telling a story about his grandmother ... and someone yelled at him to “play some music.”

“What do you think I’ve been doing you (expletive),” Mellencamp responded before flipping off the heckler. LINK
Keep in mind that this was not some huge concert. It was a small-venue, acoustic show, and those are inherently more personal. Anyone who has attended such a show understands this The heckler was rude to him for telling a personal story as part of the performance, rather than just "playing the hits" like a 20-something one-hit-wonder. Given the context, it seems clear that the crowd reaction was not a response to any political message, but a reaction to the heckler's rudeness.

I kind of sympathize with Mellencamp's reaction to the guy. I attended an acoustic show with Charlie Robison a few years ago and I cannot even imagine the rudeness of interrupting one of his stories to demand that he shut up and play his guitar.

I like Mellencamp's music, and I don't care for his politics. But here is the thing. Anyone who knows anything about him knows that he is going to include SOME political commentary in his show (even if that was not the genesis of this particular confrontation). Hell, half of his SONGS include political commentary of one sort or another.

Just like you don't buy a house near an airport and then complain about the noise, you don't go to a Mellencamp show and complain when he shares some of his political views. You knew what was coming when you bought the house/ticket.

The video started after that part.

That guy has always been insufferable about his political views, however. I have no doubt he was being a giant bore.
