I need to buy a rear tine tiller for a 40x40 garden I am planting. Anyone happy with a particular brand they have had experience? I like the DR PRO XLDRT Model and it's available now for $850.00.

I have had a Husqvarna for quite a few years now, and I've had no issues with it. I had a Poulan before it, that cost more than it, that was nothing but constant problems.

Do your research, read the reviews, etc. A garden that size needs a good tiller and you can sometimes find good used ones on Craigslist or other places on the net that has things for sale.

My garden plot is roughly 20 x 50 and before Katrina I had bought a used 8 HP Troybilt Horse tiller and that thing was a mule. It turned over the soil in no time and being self-propelled make quick work with 2 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed. It sat in the floodwaters for over 2 weeks and I didn't have time to mess with it with getting the house back in order.

Tillers are probably getting top price right now and often go on sale in the fall/winter months.

Not sure where you live but it's getting a bit late to put in a summer garden for many things since the heat will not be kind to new plants in a couple months time.

You missed the OB tiller sale extravaganza last year!

I bought a champion rear tone and it’s a beast.

I’ll say this, I bought and used it last October. Tan it out of gas to keep it clean in storage.

Filled it up a few weeks ago and it cranked right up.

I just got a Troy Bilt. It’s a beast. Time will tell on the quality.
