So what I don't get is how and why she got into the little closet/hut thing and chained up by Vane. Are we to assume that Max left the tavern and went to Vane? Or that Vane somehow intercepted her trying to leave and kidnapped her/tortured her? If so, for what...more information? She doesn't have the page, so would he be torturing her for who has the missing page?

I wouldn't have thought it was Anne until the first reply to this. It makes sense because it does look like Anne had a little regret after Max was walking away. I just assumed it was just a random member of the crew but it being Anne adds a little more depth.

I took it as him essentially blaming her for them losing the pearls. Obviously it was Jacks fault but the setup wasn't as they planned and they lost the money because of it.

And also if he straight up tortured her why would she "pay her debt" to the man who just did that shite to her? Is she that broken of a person? Did she leave the tavern and then was found by the Ranger crew, and THEY were the ones who had her chained up in there?

I feel like a) it's about her repaying a debt because she also takes fault at the pearls being lost (although I'd be out at that spot diving down deep to collect what I could) but even more so b) that it's in spite of Eleanor.

I don't really blame Max or Eleanor for the stance they initially took. It made sense for Eleanor to back Flint and I can't blame a hooker for wanting to get away/having a chance to leave that life behind. But Max should have also understood that Eleanor would be leaving a lot behind. Eleanor is running a pretty big business, that's not something that you can drop and honestly didn't necessarily have that bad of a life.

A prostitute wanting to get away, sure, I get that. Someone that is running a pretty large scale and seemingly profitable merchant business..

Don’t forget, a lot of her siding with Vane and company had to do with revenge against Eleanor. It’s her biggest motivation through that entire ordeal.

Anne also started to go walk over to Flint's crew when Eleanor made her declaration that Van'e crew was fricked, and Vane told her if she took another step he would kill her.

ETA:

During rewatch I also forgot how stupid Eleanor is sometimes, and how she makes dumb decisions that (sometimes) work out for her. Going to the tent and fricking Vane was so extraordinarily stupid from her standpoint. It's absolutely playing with fire by doing that, and of course she immediately regrets it when she discovers the Max shite.

Even if using Vane's emotions and feelings for her to her advantage is a decently smart play, that's not why she did it IMO. And I love how Mr. Scott always has that side eye glance toward her when she makes dumb decisions.
