Right

It's weird that Zion just played 70 or however many games and we are STILL a play in teams, and some posters seem dumbfounded that there isn't blind optimism here.

This season is not going to be one we look back on with high 5s and a successful season. We're either missing the playoffs or being an easy out for OKC or DEN.

I'm just not sure why we should NOT be pessimistic about healthy Zion, play in, missed playoffs/1st round exit.

Just checked to see what tickets are available on Seat Geek and oh my. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that many seats available for a meaningful game.

We are signing a completely different tune if they decide to not rest Zion against the Spurs. We win that game and we aren't even talking about any of this. Everyone is thrilled with the 6 seed.

1 game in 82 makes this a deeply unsuccessful season where everyone is on the verge of panic.

Without Zion this season I think we are in Houston/Utah territory.

That being said, BI has not elevated this team like Zion has, and we have a GAPING hole at the 5 spot that needs to be filled with an elite player, so I have to agree BI has to go for the betterment of the team.

My proposal to go with BI/Mobley swap would be simple and also taking a shot on an expiring deal that could be a homerun.

Cavs: Cam Johnson, BI, multiple picks from Nets
Nets: Mitchell, Strus, Nance
Pels: Mobley, Simmons

Simmons going into a contract year could be a home run hit for us as he may finally decide to actually play, if not then we have a HUGE expiring salary with no connections to flip at the deadline with all of our picks added.

We also wouldn’t have to add a pick to BI/Mobley swap since we would be the one taking the Simmons contract. Nets have also already said they are going all in for a star that wants to be in New York

Flame away
