Anyone know what he is doing these days? He was a player I always liked who was very underated. He always stepped up big for us on a team where he never really got alot of credit.

One of the best defenders of the modern era at LSU. HE was a huge reason why we did so well in 2000 and why we failed in '01, as his injury was crucial.

I have no idea where he is, but clearly, John Brady must have paid him good money to come to LSU.

he's prolly stoned somewhere. I've never seen someone smoke so much dope. Him and Torris were always getting popped.

I'm sure Stromile and JaBari were partaking as well. Whatever works...

Before his injury, Lamont had one of the best first steps of any two guard you'd see.
Even at just 6'4, his ability to put the ball on the floor and slash to the basket coupled with his strength made him extremely difficult for other gaurds to defend. Defensively, there weren't many two's that he couldn't shut down or contain.
Before that game against OSU in the N.O. Arena, there was much talk about how Desmond Mason was going to have his way with LSU. For the most part, Roland locked him down.

Yep. Lamont's best overall game I can remember seeing in person was when we played Auburn at home in 2000...beat them by 18 and made Chris Porter foul out very early in the 2nd half. Roland kept Scott Pohlman in check and also scored 18, himself, including a breakaway dunk that helped start to put the game away.

I remember that game and his performance so well, because that game marked the start of LSU's dominating play from late January until late February in '00. That Auburn game was the first time in about seven years that I had seen the Deaf Dome get absolutley buck wild on a week night.

Another Brady choke job was the Sweet 16 loss to Wisconsin that year. Totally outcoached when he had superior athletes. The Final Four was 2 games away and all we had to do was beat two mediocre Big Ten teams (Wisconsin then Purdue). The man just looked dumbfounded on the bench during that one.

Yep...first time I became skeptical of Brday, besides the day we hired him. Brady allowed Wisconin's unathletic team to dictate the pace of the game. We had Stromile and Brady might as well had not even played him that night. Hell, we were lucky to even get out of the first round past SWMS...Texas was more out of gas than we were. Once February was winding down, LSU was not the same team that beat Zona by 30 and Ole Miss and Bama on the road by 40. If you recall the SEC Tourney, we let an average Ark team run us up and down the court and losing to them cost us a couple of seeds in the NCAA. It did get another SEC team into the tourney though.

Nonetheless, we got a damn good 4 seed, even though it was out west. Wiscy took care of Zona for us (to avoid a revenge match), but Brady thought we HAD to play the "eat the clock" and "zone offense" games with Badgers.

frick that game. you're exactly right about how they controlled the game. LSU looked perplexed at how intense dick bennett's defense was, similar to what would happen 5 years later in the tournament(which we addressed last night )

+1. I was a fan of Lamont.

If I recall, didn't we have more turnovers than points near the end of the first half of that game. What a disappointment. It was so frustrating to watch, I can only imagine how frustrated the players were.

speaking of fan favorites of yesteryear, whatever happened to Geert HAAAAAAAMMMMIIIIIIIIICK?

That season was fun. It was my last year at LSU and the first time we had a good team while I was there. I remember that Zona game that Sat afternoon like it was yesterday. I remember Brian Beshara on that team too. That was a goofy looking sob.

His injury in '01 was definitely crucial. What part of the year was that again? I recall it being early into SEC play maybe?

The '99-'00 team was a very memorable one. I know a lot of you on here made the bus trips to Arky and Auburn...boy, Fayetteville is a loooooong way from BR!

That injury was my freshman year. It was vs Alabama and if I remember correct, there was almost a brawl at some point in the game. What a bad season, but I'll never forget senior night when we beat #12 Ole Miss with a bunch of scrubs basically.
