Our carceral system is a total failure. It creates better criminals and more traumatized Americans. It’s just a money pit at this point. Making it more traumatic won’t fix it.
Do a little research cubbies on which countries have the lowest crime rates. They all have a few things in common. Punishment works in every country and society. When I was coming up through school you got your arse busted when you screwed up. It was a hell of a deterrent to not screw up. El Salvador has put down the gauntlet. Basically saying FAFO.

They are Asian and Scandinavian. So racial homogeneity leads to lower crime? If that’s the theory, there isn’t anything we can do about that now. That ship sailed as soon as Europeans arrived here.

By teachers or parents? There’s not much we can do as a society about poor parenting, that I know of.
