Interesting. That is what I hear from some whites that feel every minority promoted is because of DEI and couldn’t possibly be because of merit or only being admitted to certain colleges because of affirmative action and so on. I guess it’s the climate we’re in. I don’t see it changing.

Deflection. DEI is absolutely a policy of artificially promoting people based upon race. Thus, EVERY promotion is correctly suspect. This does NOT mean that every promotion IS a DEI product.

But to address your comment from my point of view, sometimes things happen so often, often times my initial reaction is to assume the slight was because of race. Sometimes I’m wrong. Sometimes I’m right.
THe end of this makes no sense. You will NEVER "know" if you were right short of the person telling you. As for it "happenning often". Well, negative stuff happens to EVERYONE often. So, if you start from the premise that it's race, you're creating a self fullfilling result.

I have negative shite happen to me all the fricking time. Alas, I don't have a ready made excuse I can hang my hat on. And, it turns out, the shite happens for like 100 different reasons. Because that's life.

Track record of individuals is the best information I can go by. In those few instances where I feel it has, I have the opportunity to prove through my continued work that I’m worthy of promotion in the future or leave to go somewhere else that I feel I may get a fair shot. Life doesn’t end. There are plenty of employers out there.
