I think part of Jay’s dilemma is that what works pitching wise in Omaha can be disastrous

most everywhere else.
In Omaha, just throw it down the middle half most of the time, and get a lot of fly ball warning track outs. Riley Cooper did it the entire world series.
That same outing yesterday by Ack is a “great outing” in Omaha but a disaster here.
We have to somehow get guys that can induce more swings and misses at these other ballparks while not issuing the walks. Easier said than done but that’s why he gets paid the big bucks.

How many almost homers did cooper give up in omaha? I dont remember any. All i remember are some strikeouts, couple singles, groundballs, and liner right back at him

Cooper also lit the zone up.. something This team struggles to do a lot. Almost every leadoff guy gets on and we are constantly in hitter counts.
I’d gladly take a Cooper type guy. This team has absolutely no one it can count on outside of Holman.

Go back and look. There were tons of deep fly ball outs in Omaha. Get down 1-0 or 2-0, throw it center cut and let’s see if they can hit it far enough.
Not talking just about Cooper but referencing him because he himself said it many times there. That he was just going to throw it over the middle and they can’t hit it out.

Jay’s dilemma
Jay needs to keep recruiting. He had one of the most talented teams ever last year and it still took half a dozen miracles to win it all. It took us 5 home runs to beat Oregon state 6-5 in the regional last year. Who knows what happens if we lose that game. There’s a fine line between bust and greatness

Jay is too addicted to analytics and lacks intuition.
Sometimes you go with your gut over the data.

They do that in rocky top next week, you'll see balls sailing into outer space.

Last year's CWS might have had the most HRs since moving to TD Ameritrade

that’s a little bit overstated
Florida had a home run derby on us in Omaha
we also smashed home runs in Hame 1 and game 3

Maybe a little bit but Cooper said it and would you agree that the Ack homerun last night would have stayed in the ballpark and thus been classified as a “great outing?”

it also would have been a mile out in some SEC parks.

That’s exactly my point. Last year, we kept saying all the pitchers except Skenes sucked in SEC play. Then they were all great in Omaha……

We did make it through a regional and super regional and we weren’t winning 20-19 games.

Regional teams weren’t in same class as top SEC and Omaha teams
Edit: I looked at Kentucky score wrong haha. My bad

no it was 14-0
but again look at Ack.
he was good against Tennessee and Florida teed off on him.
that ballpark isn’t as dead as it used to be.

Good pitching wins any where

Well Skenes isn’t walking through that door
Tell me who you trust after Holman and Herring right now

Uhhhh the wind completely changed direction for that series. It was talked about and well known that there would be a lot more runs scored than previously in the tournament when the wind was blowing in
