Curious... What is Cruise Ship procedure? To Stop? Search? Or just move on???

I read somewhere that even when they're doing man overboard drills and know where to look it's really hard to spot someone in the water.

Another article said the ship stopped until the coast guard arrived. Hey, at least the vacation was a little extended for the other passengers.

They try to turn the ship and search. The problem is by the time they get the ship turned and headed back they could be a mile away or more. So depending on currents the search area could be very large even if they act quickly.

What you do if you see someone go over is start throwing stuff in the water, chairs, life vests, anything to create more stuff that can be seen. But it’s still most likely that you’ll never find the person.
