Businesses aren't in business to give people jobs, they are in business to make money. If they aren't hitting their profit margin (which is generally 7%-10%, at least for small businesses), they have to trim somewhere. Along with that, fast-food work is a very low-tier skillset. As such, it's not going to pay much nor should they pay much as those are entry-level positions.
