The eclipse is a pretty good litmus test for how pussy people have become. I don't remember any of these various "safety concerns" around the eclipse ~7 years ago.

There was an eclipse in the early 1980s, and I remember us all standing in the yard at Hynes Elementary watching it. That was (still is?) an Orleans Parish public school.

ETA a lot of the concerns seem to be coming from the "usual suspects": the mask-wearers, the noose-finders, the differently gendered...

We did those stupid shoebox things. I never realized why everyone was so excited... seemed dumn to me.
