We're living in a time in which basic, easily observable realities are being disbelieved because of propaganda.
The more worrisome issue is that the people implementing it know the reality. Yes, lot of people don't, and I just had a discussion with one here, but the military knows, and I suspect the civilian "leadership" making the decisions knows. "Fundamental transformation" is more important than effectiveness and efficiency. They don't care if it costs lives or money.

Absolutely.
And while I agree that it might be more worrisome (or maybe not, more later), it's still less surprising. At least to me.
Those who have philosophically bought into the left's agenda have pretty much always disregarded the consequences of advancing it even when those consequences were abundantly clear from the outset.
The current administration's energy policies are a great example. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that all of these "initiatives" designed to punish, reduce, or eliminate fossil fuel use are going to continue to drive up inflation and simply shift the burden of energy production in such a way as to collapse the system. We had someone recently post an article that estimated that within a surprisingly short number of years, electricity demand will double due to the aforementioned initiatives and the power grid in most places won't be able to keep up.
I refuse to believe that whoever is actually pulling Biden's Alzheimer's addled strings can't figure out tat the more electric cars, stoves, etc., etc people use, the more electricity they will need. They just don't care. It will be someone else's problem by then.
They did this with health care "reform," with changing policies in the military, etc, etc, etc.
They always do it.
The reason I say it may be more worrisome, but it may not be, is that—at least—if the general population can still say, "The Emperor is Wearing No Clothes" when necessary, the suicidal actions of the committed left can be checked.
But if the general public goes blind and can't tell whether that Emperor is wearing anything or not, then we're in huge trouble. And I think that's what's happened. And it's about to get worse with AI.
