The secretary that makes $20 sits at a computer and listens to podcasts for half of the day. But she is good at her job and is 100% worth $20 an hour. She opted to not get health insurance because the $60 a week that would have been taken out of her budget was too much. She rents a house and pays her own bills but is extremely extremely frugal.

The $30+ guys have a skill but even those that didn't start with a skill started around $25 because nobody wants to bust their arse in the Louisiana heat to even try to learn if you're paying them $10 an hour. You pay them fair pay and they'll stick with you and want to do good at their job. At least with us it's been that way. We've had to fire people, but in 7 years we've never had someone quit because they were unhappy or complained about pay.
