Small business owner with 6 hourly employees. Secretary makes $20 an hour and the others make between $30-37. Paying someone under $15 will get you nothing but crap employees. Pay them good and they'll stick with you. We never cycle through employees, part of the reason is because they are paid good. Every one of those employees have been with us for 3+ years. Same goes for the salesmen with us too, pay them a higher percentage and they'll want to work for you and stick around.

Workers comp, general liability, and taxes are 10x harder on small businesses than a few bucks an hour higher pay. I'd be embarrassed to say I was paying someone something close to minimum wage.

Edit: Good god I didn't know the minimum wage in Louisiana is $7.25, wtf Wow
