See, I told you OP. The school believes that the children, who they are supposed to teach, are too stupid not to stare directly at the sun, causing damage to their poor little stupid eyes.
It is a lazy teacher and litigious-minded admin issue.

We've got the entire school eclipse glasses. All teachers are speaking to the kids on the importance of keeping them on while looking up. It's an awesome experience for everyone.
