They jumped b/c he's in a role where he's no longer the #2 guy on the team, and is a clear #3, and is taking 3 less shots this year than he has over the last 8 years.

CJ’s efficiency didn’t just go up because he’s taking 3 less shots. It’s because of where he’s taking his shots. He has said as much this season.

Mid range shots are the most inefficient in the game. Zion is not and will never be a shooter. He will never develop a midrange efficient enough to make teams defend them giving him a path to the rim.

This offseason Zion needs to work foremost on his handle. After that adding a floater would allow him to take way less impact and should be efficient with his touch. If he needs more space in the lane, then surrounding him with shooters and getting him comfortable taking a top of the key 3 opens the floor considerably more than the midrange.

So you ignored what I said before “taking less shots”?

His role, when Zion and BI both play is drastically different.
That’s the main reason.

No longer the #2, not asked to create as much, and thus has no reason to take mid range shots anymore b/c he rarely has the ball in his hands late in the clock and asked to get a shot off, which is usually a mid range shot. Hes a role player now, not a main guy.
