they could be the worst match up for us this year outside of florida. their misdirection will give us fits, i hope our guys can stay disiplined enough not to over pursue. Thier runnings back is really really good. I am having nightmares of dmac and felix jones in the wildcat. I hate running quaterbacks (except for shepard of course )

If we win it will be a shootout. God help our offense.

Have you seen Texas Tech? That would have been worse.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. Miles will have the team well prepared to win. We'll be just fine. I think you'll see a different LSU team in the bowl game.

I don't think it's a given that Tex Tech would whip us.....their defense showed its weakness late in the year. I think LSU would have scored a ton of points on them, and perhaps matched them. That's assuming Miles, coaches, and players regroup and show some semblance of a game plan after having 3 weeks + to prepare.

If they're still biting their fingernails and scratching their asses, then maybe it would be a slaughter.

Tech took Georgia behind the shed in the second half. The option exemplifies all that is football. Knock 'em on their asses and they can't tackle you - run where they ain't. Pretty easy when you think about it. Stay in your position/zone and you can defend. One misstep - goodbye!

Only if you can avoid the blocks. My favorite play is the long run by Jones late in the 3rd that set up the fg. Demaryius Thomas is the wr on the short side. We have both A backs on the left side with Cox between Jones and the other wr. It is 3rd and 4 so Uga must protect the pass. Looks like they are in man cover on Thomas with safety help. This is the short side of the field. Thomas comes in with the corner on him and seals the lateral motion of the D. Jones gets the pitch and 60 yards later is tackled from behnind as Cox is downfield blocking. Looked like the safety also respected the inside move of Thomas so he essentially took 3 players out of the play.

BTW, I watched a bunch of GT clips and I have yet to see one bit of mis-direction.

Please post some links!

You have to watch more closely. For instance, on the triple option and the mid-line option the a back starts in motion just before the snap. The qb can hand off to the b back by turning toward the a back or he can keep it by turning back in the direction the a back is moving. On the triple option the a back continues to the outside. On the mid-line the a back turns sharply into the los and leads blocking for the qb on the side opposite to the b back fake. The misdirection to this is two fold. The qb fakes to the b back but instead of turning to the direction the a back started he can turn it up field behind the b back as the a back leads the qb into the hole. Or the a back can stop and go back the other way for an option on that side. So there are four plays where the direction is determined by the play called but the fake to the b back looks the same.

Not exactly smashed-mouth football....

O-line blocks low which D-linemen hate. It is all designed to get one-on-one match-ups than "knock'em on their asses."

It is a crappy assignment for a defense to have to plan for on a Sunday to Friday schedule. Having three weeks really helps LSU. Plus, GaTech report of them adding a bit more of the "run and shoot" to make the flexbone complete can indicate a bit of concern. Either is is all misdirection or an sign.

You get to the QB quickly to force mistakes.
