Generally less acute inflammation would reduce pain, make you feel better short term. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, y'know. You may be blunting true recovery, but athletes will do what it takes to get back on the field and ice can do that for them.

yea well even the doctor who created the original RICE formula has come out and said he was wrong and we should not ice unless you have swelling.
