Had this conversation with my SIL:
TA: Do you believe gun bans work?
SIL: Absolutely!
TA: “If the government bans guns, will we be able to get rid of the secret service and congress bodyguards?”
SIL: “of course not, we have to protect them!”
TA: “From what? See, you do not actually believe gun bans work”.
SIL: “you’re a racist”
TA: Do you believe gun bans work?
SIL: Absolutely!

When the BLM riots were hot, was in St Louis and went to Bass Pro, and the line of Black Women buying hand guns was unreal. Don’t know about the left, but people want to feel safe, and would bet the number of guns will continue to explode under leftist rule, and rightfully so..
