24 Pitch Prop To A 22 Pitch Prop

What can I realistically expect to gain or lose going from a 24 to a 22? My 24 pitch Raker prop is in the shop getting reworked and he gave me a 22 pitch to run till I get old one back. Thanks

Assuming same diameter, you’ll lose top end speed but get better hole shot.

All depends on your rpms. Were you getting to your engine's max rpm with the 24? Some actually gain speed by pitching down. I did on my current boat. The manufacturer must have been out of 23 Furys and shipped it with a 24. Too much prop for my boat/engine.

I gained about 3-4mph going from a 21 pitch to a 23 pitch, and my boat runs more level with the 23. It lifts the stern more than the 21 pitch. It’s not a huge difference though. That 22 will be fine for a backup. You might not even notice the difference unless you run your boat wide open like I do lol
