It's when you return that it really set in. Coming onto I-10 from airport and theres trash everywhere, crazy drivers, and general crap. People just don't give a shite

This.

I love Louisiana people and I was born and raised for 36 years there, so it will always be my "home".

But if I wasn't from there, there's no shot in hell I'd ever consider living there.

Louisiana is a great place to be from, not a great place to live, imo.

Every time I fly in I am reminded of why I left. I had to get a rental car one time, and there was a family on the bus that asked is the whole city like this, and some one shouted from the back, no it's actually worse.

I cannot stress this enough. I don't come home nearly as much as I used to. Every trip back was always eagerness to be back and to see family / friends which would slowly give way to seeing / experiencing things that reminded me of why I left. With each passing trip, the process seemed to take less time. After this last trip I told folks, "if y'all want to see me, planes fly west."

This is exactly why Toyota didn't build an assembly plant in the Monroe area.
