I'm already souring on college sports.
I'm with you.

My emotional attachment to college sports (particularly football) has been greatly diminished the last few years. The players are mercenaries now.

I watch almost NO pro sports. Zero emotional attachment to pro teams - that's nothing new for me, I've felt that way for decades.

I only watched college football, some college basketball, and golf. Now golf is done - except for the 4 majors.

For me, I've witnessed the death of sports in the last 3 years. It's sad, but I'll now just move on to playing more tennis and golf and entertaining myself. That's actually much better anyway.

To each their own, but I've ALWAYS just cheered for the "uniforms"...not the individual players. That is if Joe Burrow was wearing an LSU uniform I'm cheering for him. If he had transferred to say, USC, by fandom for him specifically ended once he was out of an LSU uniform.

It makes it frustrating as a fan because constant roster turnover makes it more difficult to project how good a team is going to be from year to year. Particularly in basketball where a team can go from horrible, to good, to horrible once more all in the span of 3 years. But I don't think the roster turnover makes me less interested because as long as LSU is playing football or basketball I'm tuning in to watch.

And from a players stand point I can't blame them for trying to capitalize financially off of their ability. Particularly, since they may only have a very short window to earn that much money.
