Yes that's the skin side.

Olive oil on the salmon. Screaming hot flat top, skin side down first. On my setup, I go for about 4 minutes on skin side snd 2:30 on flesh side. More or less depending on thickness.

I plate it skin side up to keep it crisp. That's my favorite part.
