How close is local?
We have a Food City five miles away and are thankful that they came out this way. The local IGA had a good butcher and not much else. Their butcher now has his own shop in the county court house town (18 miles away). No one misses the IGA. A local hardware store is also five miles away and may have what we are looking for one trip in five. No lumber yards, no clothing stores, and Knoxville is 21 miles to the east side of town.
We plan trips in and take into account the gasoline that it will take to get to and from as well as to sit in traffic jams.
We did go to town on Tuesday and made eight stops for specific purchases. It was a good trip because the stores had what they said they had (which doesn't always happen).
We depend on Amazon for deliveries of some things that town stores should have but don't.
