I have heard Brady talk about his time at LSU and the mistakes he made. He got very paranoid with Dale still being in BR and around the program. He said usually when you take over a program the outgoing coach is usually fired and doesn't stick around. Dale was in the building a lot and Brady got paranoid and thought Dale was undermining him. I think Brady was a good X and o coach but was very hard on the players. That wore thin with many of them.

Also had more technical fouls called on him for leaving the coaching box than any other coach I've seen
I don't think I ever saw him actually sit. I'll always remember there being at least one guy that would yell at the games "GET IN THE frickING BOX BRADY" I think at one point they had a guy (I'm assuming grad student) follow him around and pull him back when he walked over the line

With time and maturity many players see Brady in a different light and realize he was trying to make them better players. Best example is Tack Minor who was the object of much of Brady's ire when he played for him ( often deservedly so). Tack was inducted into his high school hall of fame a few years ago and asked Brady to present him at the ceremony. If only Brady could have influenced Tack's stepson Denver Harris in the same way. There have been several photos of Brady with ex players and they seem to have a genuinely good relationship.
