fricking terrible. I get that some kids can learn this way but the problem is forcing every kid to learn it the "new" way. Talk about frustration at the dinner table trying to teach a kid 5th grade math. I had tears, and she had tears. I HATE new math.

Phonics was a tried and true method of learning to read. Why they ever moved away from it was ridiculous. My kids went to a private school that used it. Now my grandkids go. They all learn to read. It’s impressive to see 4 yr olds begin to sound out words, read signs while driving. Also, when the “new” method didn’t work guess how they taught them? Phonics.

I have no idea. I tell my kids to use their fingers.
