I’m no acting critic but the portrayal of Abe Lincoln seemed really bad…
Yes, it was mostly the actor’s voice that was terrible. He sounded like he was going through puberty. Daniel Day-Lewis as Abe in Spielberg’s Lincoln cannot be topped.
At first I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal as most of the plot should take place after Lincoln’s death, but the constant flashbacks are a cringey reminder of how bad the portrayal of Lincoln is.

Bumping because we just powered through it.
Anthony Boyle from Masters of the Air did a stand-out job as Boothe. Wish they'd spent more time on his acting career. The guy was great to watch as he chewed up the scenery as an "actor".
Lincoln was played by the goofy brother from New Christine. I was better with his performance as Lincoln before I realized who he was. But he did okay.
quote:Nothing is as cringy as 2020s Patton Oswalt being shoehorned into this period piece. Zero effort made to portray a person of the 1860s. At one point he made sarcastic air-quotes. It was like watching him do standup at a Civil War reenactment.
