Rap is missing musical elements.
Where is the harmony? Melody? When is there any singing? Certainly no musical instruments, except maybe drums.
Spot on.
"Music" by any centuries-long definition imparts harmonies and melodies of either or both instrumentals and vocal singing (along with rhythm.)
In most cases Rap is merely rhythmic pulsations of aggressive "poetics" embellished with over-amped up bass and percussion.
So, NO. NOT "Music". EVER. It's Noise.

This thread went about how I would expect it to, wow. I should be surprised that there are people that genuinely think rap isn't music, but I'm not. Man there are some idiotic takes in this thread, yours probably being the worst.
