Eli has a 60% completion % in an easier QB league...

Plunk has a 52% rate...which would be 62% today.

Both won two Super Bowls and Plunk was the first MVP of a Wild Card Super Bowl winner.

We all know Eli will get in but there's this stigma attached to Plunkett like he was just some journeyman...the guy fricking won the Heisman at Stanford. Plunkett beat Notre Dame's Joe Theismann and Archie Manning of Ole Miss to win the award.

And then won the Rose Bowl. I know that doesn't matter..But he's treated like he was a nobody. Dude was #1 pick, Super Bowl MVP, two Super Bowl wins....NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Did Eli ever win POY either? He passed below the league average during his career but he'll get in.

quote:

UCLA coach Tommy Prothro had called Plunkett the "best pro quarterback prospect I've ever seen", echoing Sweeney's words from the year prior. His excellent arm strength and precision made him attractive to pro teams that relied much more heavily on the passing game than most college teams

He was the original Kurt Warner but he went to the dreadful Pats. And basically ruined him but he showed what a great QB he was at Oakland.

Plunkett is a worse HOF candidate than Eli honestly. Eli is roughly on par with Boom Esiason to me and behind Ken Anderson when it comes to QBs and HoF considerations.
