Why should LSU pass on the opportunity to play in a nationally televised tournament, give their seniors an opportunity to go out on a high note, and give young players tournament playing experience?

Despite some real issues with a couple of their players, I think Ole Miss’ late season slide has more to do with them skipping the NIT. On the other hand, LSU has been playing much better basketball later in the season, so it is good to reward the players with some extra games and a possible tournament victory.

LSU had a complete turnaround.

They can use the NIT to pick up momentum for the program going into next season.

Given where Ole Miss was earlier this year and how they finished (2-9), morale is probably not high heading into the offseason
