I was watching a news broadcast a few weeks ago discussing that some older highway guardrails may not be up to modern standards. The bozo discussing it said it was his life’s mission to lobby for better guardrails to “end traffic violence”. Were the guardrails jumping out into the road and beating people over the head?

Exactly. It just means they get to check off some boxes when it comes to getting favorable treatment.
I don think anyone really believes this stuff.
