I had a 1990 40HP Tohatsu for over 20 years. Great engines. Tohatsu was the oldest marine engine manufacturer in Japan but they were bought out by Nissan about the time of that engine I had. Smaller engines were Tohatsu's, the large engines were made by Nissan.
That was a two stroke, though.
That seems like a good price but I don't know what they go for new anymore. I would not hesitate to have another Tohatsu.

At 6500, I don't think it's a steal by any means. But it's a friend of a friend, and he's a young, hard-working guy getting his life going, so I don't mind paying a fair price to him for the motor. Didn't even bother trying to talk him down from 6500. If it's as clean as the pics he sent me, I'm gonna buy it.
