They want to build a multi-million dollar arena. They want to help to pay for it over the next 30 years with things like concerts.
They don’t want to have to get into a bidding war with the only other arena in the area that could house something like that.
So they got the city to agree to limit capacity of the raising canes center so that LSU can host the big events.
The Canes center can now be fully repurposed for conventions.

Which devalues the naming rights, advertising, and concessions/catering revenue to the RC center. I love how people have zero Fs to give for essentially re-writing contracts after the fact. Maybe Cane's will still be the sponsor after the changes go into effect, but they're not going to pay the same, by any stretch of the imagination.
LSU already has a place to host big events, as Garth Brooks has proven. But it's more horse trading BS, which even so called conservatives will support. Never change, Louisiana, never change.
