Tea plants in the South??

This weekend I noticed some camellia sinensis assamica plants from Lowe's. Apparently they've been growing these commercially for 100 years in Charleston, SC.

Anyone have experience growing in the garden?? How they compare to standard camellias and if they're finicky for the climate?? Is the tea worth a hoot??

I'm in zone 8b SWGA, about an 90 miles north of Tallahassee. Really want to give these a shot

There is a company in Amite growing and selling it.

great people they sell at the Hammond market. I have a couple of their plants still in pots
