Way to bury the lede, PGA.
Can anyone name a way buying a Toyota brand has fricked up, anywhere in the world, in the last 20 years? You're car guys, I'm not, but repeatedly, Toyota works, Toyota works, Toyota works.

They have had plenty of recalls and I could list a number of pattern issues with certain vehicles/drivetrains but in comparison to the competition they are head and shoulders above them in long term reliability. The thing is they build diving appliances that are in rough terms a generation behind in tech. That isn't to say that is bad, we own 2 Lexus vehicles right now. Most people don't need more than a driving appliance. Where they are lacking is performance. I haven't looked but I bet a Cayenne Turbo and X5M will walk the fastest Toyota/Lexus around a road course and obliterate them in a straight line. My guess is the quickest Toyota/Lexus on a road course (not counting the LFA) is the RC F Track Edition and I would bet the above 2 SUVs are significantly quicker around the track.
Toyota/Lexus makes great cars that are dead reliable and if you are the type to keep a car for 20 years and 300k+ miles they are by far the best financial options. The reality is most people don't do that which opens up more options. In the words of my grandfather (and thousands of other people) "that's why they make Fords and Chevrolets". As I said I appreciate and actually love Lexus vehicles but it they were my only choice in the morning I would be very sad because driving is one of my joys in life.

Not all that long ago, toyota had issues with throttles sticking wide open and killing people. My buddy had a Tacoma that needed to be painted very early in life due to the factory paint being screwed up, and the roof had already rusted. Toyota is far better than most no doubt, but they are not perfect.
